How to change your map

Changing the map in Space Engineers works slightly different from other games, however with this guide it should be very simple.

Please make sure that you have stopped the server before following this guide.

1. The first thing you will want to do is to click the Configuration Files button on the panel.

2. You will now want to open the SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg by clicking Text Editor on the right hand side of the panel.

3. You will now see all of your server configuration options neatly laid out



Note: We do suggest that if you are going to edit this file you use a dedicated program, such as Notepad++, to reduce the chances of making a mistake. You can then go to "Language" and set it to XML making the file much easier to understand




4. Now you will want to navigate to the bottom of the file where you will see a section called PremadeCheckpointPath.



5. You now need to navigate to the following folder within the File Manager

/Content/CustomWorlds/

6. Within this file you will see every default map that you can load onto the server. You can test these by creating a single player game with the map of your choice.



7. Now copy the name of the map and replace Crashed Red Ship from within your SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg and replace it with the map you wish to use.

8. Save the file and restart the server.

If you have already created a world and want to change the map you can do it 1 of 2 ways

If you wish to keep your previous world then follow this guide;

1. Edit to your SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg

2. Go to the bottom of the file and find the line named WorldName

3. Change the world name to anything else, for example World2

4. Save the file

5. Navigate to the following directory in the File Manager

/Config/Saves/

6. Delete the LastSession.sbl file

7. Restart the server

If you do not wish to keep your world then follow this guide;

1. Navigate to the following directory in the File Manager

/Config/Saves/

2. Delete the world folder

3. Delete the LastSession.sbl file

4. Restart the server
